Thousands of children are confined in camps, sometimes even without their parents. Everything they had is gone. The cities they lived in; their houses and schools have been turned into ruins. The future of these children is uncertain to say the least, and some of them have been stuck waiting in refugee camps for over a year.
To facilitate and operate small music schools in refugee camps: places that can offer professional music lessons for children and young adults. In order to reach this objective, the foundation unites forces with other organisations that already have a presence and provide services at the various camps.
Making music has a therapeutic effect; playing is a joyful activity.
Music connects and unites; music is the only shared world language.
More attention for all children in refugee camps.
In the beginning of 2017 Connect by music started its first project at refugee camp KaraTepe on the Island of Lesvos.
At this moment Connect by Music is active at 7 locations on the island of Lesvos. At every location music is created by and for refugees. Most of the refugees that participate are children, among them the 300 children that live in the refugee camps without their parents, many of them orphans.
Since the beginning of 2019 Connect by Music has started two new music projects on the mainland of Greece in the camps Malakasa and Lamia.
Every day again we are all touched by their performances. Nowhere else is the power of music expressed as strongly as in these lessons.
